More than halfway through the 2026–27 charity year, this is a chance to reflect on what we have achieved together.
One flagship moment I’m proud to see become reality was the relaunch of EpSMon, our free app helping people to Check – Track – Live well with epilepsy. Years in the making, over 170 people with epilepsy downloaded it for the first time in its first month. We have also seen positive inquest outcomes for bereaved families supported through our casework service, helping them seek answers, accountability and change to protect others—including for Amber Walker, Megan Gardiner and Jacob Sunley.
We now look ahead with determination to projects, research and campaigning that moves us closer to a future with no preventable epilepsy deaths, and where the bereaved can access specialist services tailored for them.
We hope to host a ministerial roundtable in Parliament—the first time in over a decade that Health Ministers have met with us about preventing deaths and supporting bereaved communities. SUDEP Action Day takes place on Wednesday 21 October, with the theme Stop SUDEP. Open conversations about seizure safety and risk management can save lives, whilst every story and expert insight strengthens our community. Please join us—for the day let’s #StopSUDEP together.
This autumn, we begin a ground-breaking collaboration with the Epilepsy Research Institute to identify the socio-economic cost of living with epilepsy and of not preventing deaths. Working with a leading health economist, people living with and bereaved by epilepsy and UK experts, it will show why Government, and the NHS, must urgently prioritise epilepsy: improving services and wellbeing, saving money and, most importantly, saving lives. We are also planning a new fundraising campaign for early 2027 to reach more people and move our mission forward. We’d love your help in shaping it, so please get in touch if you’d like to support.
