SUDEP Action remembers those who have lost their lives to epilepsy with London Memorial Service
The service was attended by over 200 people who travelled from all parts of the UK to remember and pay tribute to their loved ones.
On Saturday 7th June, we remembered those who have lost their lives to epilepsy at our Memorial Service at St James’s Church, Piccadilly, London. The service was attended by over 200 people who travelled from all parts of the UK to remember and pay tribute to their loved ones.
Set in the picturesque church of St James’s, the service was led by the Revd Dr Ivan Khovacs. It included music and readings proposed by many of the bereaved families who attended the service followed by live piano by Michael Haslam, Director of Music at the church.
Tracy Cowdry Deputy CEO and Bereavement services manager said, “This was an incredibly emotional and moving service, the energy in the room was profound. The service was designed by the bereaved for the bereaved which made it extremely meaningful and powerful.
We will never forget all who have died from epilepsy, and without fail we will be here for the bereaved for however long. They and their loved ones will always be at the centre of what we do, because we care”.
John Hirst, Chair of SUDEP Action Trustees said “It is genuinely amazing and so nice to see so many of you here, although I think you will agree with me when I say it would be even nicer if none of us were here today. We are all members of a club that none of us wanted to join, but the support we have from SUDEP Action, and the fellowship between us all, is a help in our lives.”
