“Never give up!” 3 x 3 peaks climbed in memory of Martin
Group climbs to the summit of all nine mountains in memory of Martin Morgan.

Cheryl Morgan-Walker, alongside the Bethan Davies Fitness group climbed the Welsh Three Peaks in September. Earlier this year the group conquered both the Yorkshire Three Peaks and the National Three Peaks in their quest to reach the summits of all nine mountains. Over £2,100 has now been raised in memory of Cheryl’s brother Martin Morgan who passed away in 2015 due to SUDEP.
Cheryl said: “I completed the Welsh Three Peaks with an absolute fabulous bunch of inspiring ladies…The support, encouragement and absolute determination from everyone just gave me that push to challenge myself to do something I never ever imagined I’d do! And all this for my wonderful brother Martin who we lost 10 years ago. As you can imagine that walk up to the top of Snowdon was an emotional one for me and the words ringing in my ears hearing ‘Never give up!’ and I didn’t!”
Martin passed away at just 37 years old. Neither Martin nor his family had been made aware of SUDEP. Cheryl said: “I never thought that you could die from epilepsy. And I don’t think many people are aware… it just doesn’t seem fair that he was taken at such a young age when he had so much to live for.”
The group climbed to the summit of all nine mountains including Whernside, Ingleborough, Pen-y-Ghent, Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, Cadair Idris, Pen-y-Fan as well as Snowdon twice as part of both the National and Welsh three peaks.
Cheryl’s family surprised her by meeting her at the bottom of Pen-y-Fan, on their final descent. She said: “All the blood, sweat and tears and those views were worth it. It was such a lovely surprise seeing my husband and my girls after completing the challenge, they surprised me with some flowers at the end and we all toasted to Martin with a glass of Prosecco!”
