What is Purple Day?
Purple Day, 26 March, is an international awareness day founded by Cassidy Megan in 2008. Motivated by her own struggles with epilepsy, Cassidy's ultimate goal is to - get people talking about epilepsy in an effort to dispel myths and inform those with seizures that they are not alone. It is a great global day to raise funds and awareness.
Your funds can help us to dispel myths about SUDEP, raise awareness and ultimately save lives. You can take part in any Purple Day fundraiser you like, but we have come up with some ideas to help inspire you.
Epilepsy All-Party Parliamentary Group - get your MP involved
On Monday 26 March, there will be an event at parliament which will coincide with Purple Day. Make sure your MP is present.
Workplace fundraising – why not get your workplace involved in fundraising this Purple Day?
Cake sales, raffles, dress down days where staff pay £1 (or fancy dress days if your office already wears casual clothes), a lunchtime silent disco (bring in your iPods or Smartphone and hold a ‘silent disco’ in one of the meeting rooms – charge £2 for entry), a lunchtime skill sells session (if anyone has a talent for something e.g. crafts or singing then they could run an hour long class and charge for entry), and a lunchtime office quiz (make sure that the staff are away from their phones and computers so there is no cheating!) are all great workplace fundraisers.
