February 2018

A place to thank, appreciate and celebrate our fundraisers.

This February blog features a few fantastic fundraisers.

Wendy Goodsell ran the Brighton Half Marathon. She informed us: "I took part in the Brighton Half Marathon to raise vital funds for SUDEP Action, in memory of an amazing man, Mr Richard Player "Tricky," who was a service user at The Parchment Trust, where I work. He was a great man, who I miss dearly. It was a very emotional day, and very cold. When the going got tough I thought of Richard and his amazing Mum and Dad called Diane and John, I'm so proud."

Laura Marsden held a fun fundraiser. She commented: “Following the launch of the Prevent21 campaign, I felt inspired to complete 21 initiatives by 2019 to either raise funds or awareness of SUDEP and the great work SUDEP Action do! My first event was a quiz night with around 50 people at Swindon Town’s County Ground, which was a fun night and included a raffle with donated prizes from my colleagues. It was also great to share some facts about SUDEP, and the work that SUDEP Action do.”

LUTheatre society made the most of their venue closure. Society President Izzy Woolrych informed us: "I am the President of LUTheatre society and was the director of a musical last year during which one of my cast members, Felix Murdin, sadly passed away. We marked the one-year anniversary of his death and the loss of our long-term venue with a massive theatre and performance showcase and a fundraiser for SUDEP Action. It was a poignant, heartfelt evening and I will always be extremely proud to have worked alongside such inspirational, wonderful people."
