Help your local GPs become SUDEP and Seizure Safety Savvy
During National Epilepsy Week 2016 we launched a new E-learning module for Health Professionals with the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP).
- It is a free, 30-minute course on ‘SUDEP and Seizure Safety’ that health professionals, students and trainees can access as part of their professional development.
- The course has been created alongside the College’s Epilepsy knowledge update and highlights the importance of risk management among patients with epilepsy and their health professionals.
We want as many health professionals as possible to hear about this course, and to be encouraged to complete it. We need your help to reach them!
Get involved by emailing s[email protected] (you will receive a PDF letter for GP practices with information about the e-learning and a short template covering letter to complete yourself)
Engage your MP with our EDM:
An Early Day Motion (EDM) is a 250 word statement submitted to Parliament to draw attention to a specific cause. It calls for supportive MPs to sign up and show they stand by the points raised. They are 'live' for 12 months and we hope to get at least 100 signatures during this time!
Following on from being awarded ‘Neurology Team of the Year’ at this years’ prestigious British Medical Journal awards for our work with the SUDEP and Seizure Safety Checklist and EpSMon,
- MP Norman Lamb (Former Minister of State for Department of Health) has tabled an Early Day Motion in parliament to raise awareness among MPs of the need to improve epilepsy care and signposting of bereaved families after an epilepsy death.
- The EDM is co-sponsored by: Valerire Vaz MP (Chair of the all Parliamentary Group for Epilepsy) and MPs Peter Bottomley, Mark Durkan, Alan Brown & Gavin Newlands.
We want as many supportive MPs as possible to sign their name on the EDM and pledge their support on behalf of the bereaved community.
Get resources to help you contact your MP by emailing: [email protected] (please mention your constituency & MP's name). You will receive a template letter for your MP with information about the EDM and how they can help.
