Community cafe's neighbourly collection

A community cafe in Wantage has donated £500 to SUDEP Action.
For several years, the Wantage Methodist Church - next to SUDEP Action's office - has run a Monday morning community cafe, acting as a drop-in centre for locals to meet. The cafe provides a warm, safe place for people to come together, serving a need in the town and proving hugely popular to Wantage residents.
Those visiting the cafe aren't charged for refreshments, although many sought to contribute to the costs. Church organisers therefore hit upon the idea of collecting voluntary donations for various causes chosen by the people using the cafe, themselves.
From September to November 2022, cafe visitors opted to collect funds for their nearest neighbour SUDEP Action, raising the impressive total of £500.
A church spokesperson said: "This year, participants have chosen a number of charities, each of which has been given donations collected over a three-month period. It is particularly pleasing to be able to help our next door neigbour and, on behalf of the cafe participants and the church, I send you our good wishes for all that SUDEP Action does."
